WHY?

This program originated as I grew older. I realized that I had developed all these skills, but there were parts of my soul that had been left unfulfilled in the course of pursuing my career. Some of these parts involved poetry that had haunted me for years. As well, I was a bit of ham – a character wanting to express his other selves. Then, as my children entered their teen years and only saw me in the parent and professional role, it occurred to me I wanted to leave them some record of the other selves that reside inside. So I made a short film entitled MR. FLOOD’S PARTY based on a poem by Edwin Arlington Robinson that has lived with me since I first encountered it in college. I can leave my children many things as a legacy. Among these may be money, a body of work, and an example of a life lived decently and well to the best of my ability. But I guess I am vain enough to want them to be a little surprised by learning just a bit more of my soul inside. Your own story may derive from association with other sources. It may be wholly original. Or it may be a true telling of a bit of your own biography. It should be generated from what moves you from within and it should fulfill you in the act of telling it.

People spend their resources on all sorts of lessons from piano to sculpting to hang-gliding and scuba. They get massages, go on fine vacations, and buy works of art. And they give gifts as part of their generous spirits. Making a LEGACY / YOUR STORY movie is a way of combining all these things with something more – the gift of a surprising aspect of yourself for others to have and share again and again.

This program is intended to be tailored to the degree of involvement you wish. We can guide and educate you in every aspect, or take the helm in those areas that interest you less. We counsel you on production ambitions and processes that fit your budget. Please do not confuse what we offer with home movies. We are speaking here of professional, broadcast quality, dramatic productions worthy of submitting to festivals and for distribution through short film channels. Again:
